First Blog

If you are reading this, then you are reading our first ever blog!! Well we might as well update you all and give you an insight into December……………

We have a new Head Chef – Sara Knighton. Sara has worked at Ashmount Country House for over 3 years and has over 10 years experience. Sara’s signature dish would have to be a blue steak – or any steak come to mention it! Many guests in the past have ordered steak knowing that Sara will be cooking it.

For December through to the end of January 2013, we have a winter warmer afternoon tea. Here is just a small example of what the afternoon tea will contain: warm mince pies, turkey and cranberry sandwiches, plum bread or Yorkshire parkin, ginger fairy cakes and many other sandwiches. We will be launching the winter warmer late November/early December so keep your eyes open.

Throughout December our restaurant menu will be steered towards the foods that make you happy on a cold, wintery night. All courses are homemade and we only use the very best ingredients and our suppliers are all local. Tempt yourselves with chicken liver pate with red onion marmalade, fillet steak with boulangere potatoes – or a traditional turkey dinner with honey roasted vegetables finished off with a trio of desserts (chocolate & brandy pots, mini cinnamon meringues, raspberry pannacotta), Christmas pudding with rum creme Anglaise or a traditional crumble! My mouth is watering whilst typing this!!

If you would like to book for afternoon tea or an evening meal in our restaurant – please contact us on 01535 645726. We are open to residents and non residents, 7 days a week
